Dolly Boston, 87, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, July 11, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Lanny Tuttle officiating. Interment: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with family present 7 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Boston was born Nov. 29, 1907, in Mahaska County, near Tioga, to Elmer and Mary Passalia Shipley. She married Henry S. (Ted) Boston in Oskaloosa on Aug. 26, 1933. He died Jan. 9, 1988. They lived most of the lives near Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church. She was employed at Continental Mfg. and General Mills and during World War II worked at the Ordnance Plant in Burlington and the Arsenal at Ankeny. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters.
Survivors include 4 sisters and brothers-in-law: Nellie and Coen Ehrenhard of Fremont, Nancy and Ralph Gilchrist of Oskaloosa, Marguerite and Loren Schwartz of Hedrick, and Dorothy and Don Denney of Oskaloosa; 1 brother, Joe Shipley and his wife Wilma of Gibson; 1 aunt, Georgia Passalie of Oskaloosa; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 1 sister Lucille Herrick; and 4 brothers: George Shipley, Tom Shipley, Robert Shipley, and Gene Shipley.
