Shirley A. TePaske Wahlbrink, 79, of Oskaloosa, and formerly of Des Moines, died Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born February 12, 1925, in New York State, and was the daughter of Reverend A. J. and Flossie DeJong TePaske. She was a graduate of the Oskaloosa High School and attended Central College for a year and William Penn College for a year. She then attended Des Moines Business College. She was employed by the Iowa Employment Security Commission in Des Moines for 20 years, and by the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System for awhile. Shirley then worked for the Veterans Administration office in Des Moines for six years before retiring in 1987. In July 2002, she moved back to Oskaloosa from Des Moines. She loved her family; ballroom dancing; reading; bowling; and golf.

Shirley is survived by a daughter and her husband: Andrea and Dennis Dursky of Oskaloosa; 2 grandsons, their wives, and their children: Mike and Jill Dursky and Haley and Megan, and Eric and Lisa Dursky and Tyler and Tori. Also surviving is a nephew and his wife, Donnie and Cheri Young of Montezuma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Milton Young; and a sister: Leona Ver Steegh.

Funeral services for Shirley Wahlbrink will be held Sunday, December 12, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with the Reverend Don DeGlopper officiating. Private family burial will be Monday at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the funeral chapel Saturday after 3 p.m., and the family will be present on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time. At the family's request, please do not send flowers or plants. Memorials may be given to the Central Reformed Church music department.
