Carrie Simpkins, 94, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, October 8, 2004, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa. She was born on October 30, 1909, near Beacon, Iowa, the daughter of George and Angeline Stam Rozenboom. On October 15, 1932, Carrie was united in marriage to Lloyd Simpkins at Lancaster, Missouri. He died on February 3, 1968. Carrie worked at the Old Continental Overall Factory for 45 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa where she taught Sunday school for 20 years; she was also a member of the Pythian Sisters.

Carrie is survived by 2 nieces: Vivian (& Maurice) Barnes of Marion, Iowa, and Pauline Rozenboom of Oskaloosa; a nephew: James Rozenboom of Lomax, Illinois; and many great-nieces and nephews including Carol (& Charles) Stream of Oskaloosa and Gary (& Janet) Rozenboom of Oskaloosa.

Besides her husband, Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers: John Waal, George Rozenboom, Engle Rozenboom, Gerritt Rozenboom, Henry Rozenboom, and Joe Rozenboom; and 3 sisters: Jennie Hilleary, Josephine Shipley and one sister in infancy.

Funeral services for Carrie Simpkins will be Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, with the Reverend Michael Crouch Officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Monday after 9 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel. The family will be at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 until service time to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church building fund.
