C. Dale Aeschliman (1922-2004)

C. Dale Aeschliman, the son of Levi and Mary Frances Westhoff Aeschliman, was born on Sunday, June 11, 1922, at Lancaster, Missouri. He graduated from the Kirksville (MO) High School with the class of 1940. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, from June 1944 until honorably discharged in April of 1946. On March 19, 1949, he was united in marriage to Louise Zotti at Kahoka, Missouri. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1954, and farmed southwest of Oskaloosa for several years, and later farmed near Rose Hill for many years. Later, Dale worked at Rolscreen Company in Pella for 18 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Oskaloosa, and he enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with family. On Saturday, August 28, 2004, Dale died at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella, at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 17 days. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Louise of Oskaloosa; 2 sons: Paul (& Ann) Aeschliman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Donald Aeschliman (and his friend, Karen Briggs) of Grimes, Iowa; 5 grandchildren: Christopher, Heather, Aaron, Nicholas, and Courtney Aeschliman; and a sister: Elizabeth Francis of Portland, Oregon. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: Steven Craig in infancy and Michael Allen in 1976; a brother: Joe Aeschliman; and 6 sisters: Rosella Goeke, Hazel Moore, Louise, Leona, and Susan Aeschliman, and Binna Kueneman. A Mass of a Christian Burial for Dale was held at ST. MAry's Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Robert Busher officiating. Interment at St. MAry's Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Iowa with graveside Military Rites by the O?Oskaloosa American Legion, V.F. W. and D.A. V. This is a Bates Funeral Chapel service.
