Rose Hill - Jennie M. Goodwin, 94, of rural Rose Hill, died Friday, Jan. 7, at Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa.
Service will be 10:30 Tuesday at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Harold Schutte officiating. Interment: Wymore Cemetery near Rose Hill. Visiting hours with family will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. Memorials: Rose Hill Community Church.
Jennie M. Goodwin was born Jan. 29, 1905 in Schuyler County, Mo., the daughter of William T. and Hannah Etta Hughes Pearce. She was a 1923 graduate of Rose Hill High School. Early in her adult years she taught school in Coon Rapids and later at Sibley. On June 23, 1938, she married Artie Goodwin in Queen City, Mo. She was a homemaker and taught school in Rose Hill for about five years. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star and presently a member of First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. Survivors include her hsuband, Artie Goodwin of rural Rose Hill; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Henry Mason Showalter of Summerfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bonnie Annetta Goodwin Showalter; a sister; and three brothers (Oskaloosa Herald, n.d.)
