SERVICE FRIDAY FOR DAN PRINE - Funeral services for Dan R. Prine, former Mahaska County state representative who died suddenly in downtown Oskaloosa Tuesday, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at Powers Funeral Homes. The Rev. Clinton B. Meininger, First Christian Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Prine Cemetery. The son of Homer and Ida Bode Prine, he was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Oskaloosa, and was a life-long resident of Mahaska County. He attended Prine rural school, was graduated from Oskaloosa High School and attended Iowa State University, Ames. A veteran of World War II, when he served with the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the First Christian Church, Tri-Luminar Masonic Lodge No. 18 (A. F. & A. M.), the Order of the Eastern Star, Shrine, Farm Bureau and the Southern Iowa Fair board of directors. In addition, he had served as secretary of the Prine school district and as a Garfield Township clerk. He was a member of the Mahaska County Boys 4-H committee for 12 years. Dan Prine was first elected to represent Mahaska County in the Iowa House of Representatives in 1960 and was re-elected to a second two-year term in 1962. He also served during a special session to draft a new reapportionment bill in 1964. He was married June 2, 1946, to Dorothy Canine, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ida Bode Prine of Oskaloosa route 3, and one son, David, 12. (likely from The Oskaloosa Herald, n.d.)
