Life Story

Susan Elizabeth Roach, daughter of James and Rachel Roach, was born in Poweshiek County on June 15, 1875 and passed away July 17, 1958 at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 2 days.

In 1910 she, with her parents moved from the farm to New Sharon. Here she cared for her father, then her mother during their last illnesses.

She was converted early in life and as long as her health permitted faithfully attended the Methodist church.

“Lizzie” as she was affectionately called, lived a good and useful life, always a good and kind neighbor and friend.

Preceding her in death were her father and mother and two brothers, Frederick and Edwin.

Several cousins survive who mourn her passing.
