PEORIA - Grace Veenstra Van Wyk, 80, of Peoria, died Monday, April 21, in the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. Service was held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Peoria Christian Reformed Chuch in Peoria, the Rev. Ronald Bouwkamp officiating. Interment: Peoria Cemetery, Peoria. The Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials: The Bible League (Bibles for Burma).

She was born December 12, 1916, near Taintor to John L. and Carrie Vander Molen Veenstra. She was a lifetime resident of the area.

She graduated from the 8th grade at the Peoria Christian Grade School. Following graduation she worked in homes.

On September 19, 1940 she married John H. Van Wyk near Peoria. She lived on the same farm for 57 years and helped her husband farming. She was a member of the Peoria Christian Reformed Church and of the Persis Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her husband, John, of New Sharon; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Carrol Bandstra of New Sharon; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lambert and Cornelia Veenstra of New Sharon; and a sister and her husband: Jeanetta and Henry DeJong of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother: Ben Veenstra.
