Ira Molenburg, 96, of New Sharon died Monday, May 26, 1997 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1901 in Taintor to Leonard and Dora Scharff Molenburg. He married Nellie Stephen May 16, 1930 near New Sharon; she preceded him in death August 8, 1993. He was a trucker until 1941, then entered farming and farmed until retiring. He was a charter member of the New Sharon Assembly of God Church and a member of the Mahaska County Farm Bureau. He is survived by two sons, Larry of Johnston and Robert of New Sharon; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Terrell of McNeil, AZ and Glenna Clark of Sigourney. Ira was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Joseph and Estel Molenburg; and two sisters, Hattie Ver Steegh and Katie Molenburg. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30 at New Sharon Assembly of God, the Rev. Marvin Fulks officiating. Burial was in Steward (sic) Cemetery north of New Sharon. Memorials may be made to the New Sharon Assembly of God Church. Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
