Karol Lue Reitsma dies on Saturday; Rites Held May 2. Final rites for Miss Karol Lue Reitsma were held Monday afternoon, May 2, 1955, at the New Sharon Presbyterian church.

The Rev. W. Richard McEuen, assisted by the Rev. O.H. Hamilton were in charge of the services which were held at 2:30 o'clock.

The Harden Funeral Service of New Sharon was in charge of all arrangements. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Wentworth, South Dakota. Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 3.

Pallbearers were Bob Knowler, Lewis Lundy, Gordon Molenburg, Howard Vos, Donovan Latcham and John William Thomas. Flower attendants were Mary Jane de Vries, Shirley van Gorp Thomas, Patricia Bunting, Carol Ann Younkin, Carolyn Latcham and Loretta Wanders.

The hymns, "Good Night and Good Morning" and "Beside the Still Waters of Peace" were furnished by Barbara Jackson, Virginia Grosenbach, Carol Jean Van Masnen and Mrs. Emory Grosenbach.

Life Story: Karol Lue Reitsma was born February 13, 1916, at Wentworth, South Dakota. When she was about a year old she moved to Iowa with her parents and has spent most of her life around this vicinity.

Karol Lue was graduated from the New Sharon High School with the class of 1954, receiving valedictorian honors. She also was the recipient of the D.A.R. Citizenship award of the senior class.

Having united with the First Presbyterian church of New Sharon on Easter Sunday a year ago, she always enjoyed whatever work or help she could do for the church as well as the fellowship of her dear friends of whom she had many and who she loved from the bottom of her heart.

In the fall of 1954, she enrolled at Central College, Pella with a deep desire for furthering her education, but by Thanksgiving signs of failing health forced her to give up her college work and from then on she spent most of her time under hospital care.

She passed away at her home near New Sharon on the morning of April 30 at the early age of 19 years, two months and 16 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Seaverns, one brother, Robert Burdette Reitsma and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Reitsma of St. Jacobi Parochie, Friesland, Netherlands, many other near relatives and a host of dear friends.
