Heart Attack Takes Life of Tom Hite Tuesday, Sept. 23
Tom Hite, 73, resident of the Lower Grove neighborhood, died of a heart attack Tuesday at the North Skunk river near the beaver dam close to the Russell Hughes place.
Mr. and Mrs. Hite had gone fishing Tuesday morning about 11:00 o’clock and Mrs. Hite remained in the car waiting for her husband to return for lunch at 1:00 o’clock. When he did not return Mrs. Hite became alarmed and started out to look for him. Failing to find him she went to the Dick Bandstra place to get help. Mr. Bandstra and Russell Hughes began the search and located the body about 5:15.
Last rites will be held Friday at 1:00 o’clock at the Powers Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
Burial will be in the Little Mount Baptist cemetery north of New Sharon.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Russia C. Hite; a son, Ralph D. Hite of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Zemke, of Seattle, Washington; four brothers, Floyd of Oskaloosa, Orla of Reinbeck, Robert of Marion and Lester of New Sharon; and two sisters, Mrs. Josie McCurdy and Mrs. Wilma Mott, both of Oskaloosa.
