Joseph Edward "Joe" Wadle 84, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Knoxville, IA passed away at 5:15 a.m. in Serenity House in Oskaloosa on Thursday, July 18, 2013.Joe was born October 27, 1928 in Lacona, IA to William and Ethel (Sockriter) Wadle. He married Karen Kempenaar on September 2, 1966.

Joe is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Jodi (Tom) Pospeschil of Macomb, IL and Julie (Craig) Ver Steegh of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren: Ashley (Greg) Baker of West Des Moines, and Joseph, Jamie and Grace Ver Steegh of Oskaloosa; brother, Jess (Nancy) Wadle of Gravois Mills, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-laws, Sheryl (Ed) Kindred and Jane Kempenaar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence; infant daughter, Diane Marie; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Micki Kempenaar and his brother-in-law, Ken Kempenaar.

Joe served in the United States Army, spending two tours during the Korean War in 1949 and 1951, and was a 60 year member of the American Legion. He was employed by the Knoxville V.A. Hospital for 35 years as a Nursing Care Technician prior to retirement.Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20 at the Celebrate Church in Knoxville at 10 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
