Charles Eli Piersel was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania October 25, 1860 and with his parents William and Ann Piersel came to Iowa when nine years old. They settled near the little town of Indianapolis and lived there at the time of his death which occurred at his home 2 - 1/2 miles north of Indianapolis at 7:30 Monday Evening, September 25th 1916. He had not been considered seriously ill until his wife who was sitting up with him noticed a change. She immediately called the children and family physician. All was done that loving hands could do until death relieved.

He was married to Iowa Bridges August 1882. To this union was born seven children. Five of whom are living and were at the bedside of their father at the time of his death. They are Ross who is married and lives near Keswick. Floyd, Cecil, Clifford and Velma at home. He also leaves a wife and two sisters. Mrs. Emma Axtell of Kansas and Mrs. Ella Lester of Clarion, Iowa. He was converted about twenty years ago and united with the ME Church of Indianapolis of which he was a member.
