George Shook, Jr.

Oskaloosa

George E. Shook, Jr., 61, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He was born July 5, 1950. He entered the United States Army in 1968, and was honorably discharged in 1971.

On June 23, 1973, he was united in marriage to Linda K. Quail at Sac City, Iowa. In 1975, he began working at Rolscreen now Pella Corporation in Pella. He retired from there in 2005 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Open Bible Church in Oskaloosa.

His family includes his wife, Linda Shook of Oskaloosa; a daughter and her husband: Heidi and Ed Beller of Knoxville; six grandchildren: Dylan Hartley, Michael Beller, Matthew Hartley, Kristopher Beller, Lilijana Hartley, and Samantha Beller; four sisters; three brothers; and four half sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and a daughter, Laura Jean Shook.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery at Van Meter at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Visitation will begin Sunday morning after 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel; family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. ~ The Des Moines Register Legacy, Des Moines, Iowa Nov 2011.
