Mrs. E. H. (Esta May) Sampson, 79, formerly of Delta, died Feb 29, 1980 at Sigourney Care Center.

She was born Aug. 16, 1900 in Mahaska county, a daughter of Lewis F. and Effie Benscoter Okey. She attended Mahaska county schools. She marred Edwin Herbert Sampson Sept. 2, 1919 at Oskaloosa. They farmed in Mahaska and Keokuk counties. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Delta, United Methodist Women, the F.F.C. club and Pollyanna club.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Barbara L. Snodgrass; four sons, Theodore (Ted), Marvin L., Gerald A. and Duane A.; 16 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Black and one brother, Clayton Okey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 2, 1972, two sisters, Mabel Bales and Elsie Holliday and one brother, Richard H. Okey.

Services were held March 3 at Delta united Methodist church with the Rev. Mark Peyton officiating. Burial was in Indianapolis cemetery in Mahaska county.
