June 13, 1989 Obituary - LEROY W. STEVENS

LeRoy W. Stevens, 66, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, June 13, 1989, at home with family at his side. He was born September 7, 1992, the son of Walter Ross and Grace M. Lewis Stevens. Roy was a life-long resident of Oskaloosa. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School.

He was married to Phyllis Cole on December 24, 1941. He farmed and operated a dragline at local coal mines until 1956. The past 32 years Roy has been co-owner f Bins and Stevens, Inc. He attended the Oskaloosa Gospel Tabernacle.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Sharon Farrell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Rick of Oskaloosa, Iowa; son John of Elgin, Iowa; son Dan of Palos Verdes, California; daughter Debbie Stevens of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and sixteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Grace Stevens of Silver Springs, Maryland; sister Dorothy Couts of Deland, Florida; sister Jeanne Morgan of Rockville, Maryland; brother Jim Stevens of Newton, Iowa; and brother Bob Stevens of Silver Springs, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister Isabel McCabe and Jerry Stevens.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Mahaska County or the Share in Youth Program of the Mahaska County YMCA.
