Death Takes H.I. Storey

Harry I. Storey, former Fairfield High School teacher, died Feb. 16 in a nursing home at Newton. Services were held at Newton Saturday.

Storey served as head of the vocational agricultural agricultural department at the Fairfield High School for 15 years before he accepted the position as county extension director for Mahaska County in 1943.

A graduate of Mount Morris College, Illinois, Storey served as vocational agricultural teacher five years at College Springs before coming to the Fairfield school in 1928.

After serving as county extension director for Mahaska County for two years Storey joined the Iowa Farm Bureau where he served as regional supervisor and for a number of years as director of the bureau's public policy division.

Storey was honored at the annual Iowa Farm Bureau Federation convention in Des Moines when he retired in November, 1965.

While residents of the Fairfield Community Mr. and Mrs. Storey were active in community affairs. He served as trustee of the Methodist Church and was a member of the Lions Club which he served as president for one term, and was a director of the Fairfield Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Mrs. Storey was a member of Chapter C, PEO, and served on the tire panel of the War Price and Rationing Board.

In addition to his widow, Storey is survived by two children, a son, Jay, Newton, and a daughter, Jean, Saudi Arabia. Mrs. Storey's address is 604 E. Third Street, South, Newton, Iowa, 50200.
