BLANCHE O'FARRELL

Mary Blanche O'Farrell, 79, of New Sharon died Monday, Dec. 14, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Union Mills Christian Church, with the Rev. Kerry Lake officiating. Burial was in Union Mills Cemetery, with the Harden Funeral Home of New Sharon in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 15, 1919, in New Sharon to B.L. and Blanche Eastlack Saunders, and was adopted at a young age by Edwin and Mary Graham Whaley, who raised her in the New Sharon area. She was a 1937 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.

She was married to Wallace B. O'Farrell Feb. 27, 1941, at her home in New Sharon. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She moved to New Sharon Nursing and Rehab Center earlier this year.

Mrs. O'Farrell was a member of the Union Mills Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Linda Graham of Litchfield, Ill.; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Audree Johnson of New Sharon, Alice Francis of Garden Grove, Calif., and Marjorie Eilers of Topeka, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lyman Saunders; and one sister, Helen Ver Steegh.

Memorial contributions may b made to her church.
