Grace Phillips dies at 93

Grace Phillips, 93, died Monday night at the Nelson Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 1981.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at teh New Sharon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Phillips of Spirit Lake, brother-in-law of Mrs. Phillips, officiating.

The family will greet friends Thursday at 10 a.m. in the church parlor. Burial will be in the New Sharon Friends Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Harden Funeral Home, New Sharon.

The daughter of Ira E. and Mary Elizabeth Ratliff Cronk. Mrs. Phillips was born Feb. 1, 1891 at Dedham, Iowa. She was married to Harry W. Phillips April 6, 1916 at Carthage, Ill. He died Nov. 12, 1979. They farmed in Mahaska County until they retired and moved to New Sharon in 1969.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Gabbert of Fairfield; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter and one granddaughter.

Memorials have been established to New Sharon United Methodist Church and the New Sharon Library.
