Irene Barnhouse

OSKALOOSA - Irene S. Barnhouse, 100, of 813 First Ave. E., Oskaloosa, died Jan. 26, 2000, at Tower Park Residential Care Facility in Oskaloosa.

She was born Aug. 12, 1899, in Packwood to John David and Cornelia Baker Snider. She married C.L. Barnhouse Jr. in Ottumwa on Feb. 9, 1925; he died Oct. 14, 1967.

She attended school in Fairfield and graduated from Oskloosa High School in 1918. She was a member of the St. Paul Congregational-United Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, Charles of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Dianne Campbell of Oskallosa; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Jeanne Minard of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Coe; a son, Robert; two brothers, Arvine and Jack Snider; and three sisters, Bernice Conway, Dorothy Lee and Cornelia Hovey.

The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bates Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Casey Cain officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today with family present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to her church.
