Ralph B. Maudlin

Ralph B. Maudlin, 89, New Sharon died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at the New Sharon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with the Rev. Kerry Lake officiating. Interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

Visiting hours will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Harden Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 7-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established to Mahaska County Hospice or to the New Sharon Rescue Unit.

Mr. Maudlin was born July 27, 1910, in Sandridge, the son of Benjamin F. and Gertrude Ver Duff Maudlin. He married Mildred Busby Feb. 16, 1938, in Lacey. She died in October 1998.

He was a 1930 graduate of New Sharon High School. He had and had farmed in the Lacey area for many years.

In 1954, he joined the Rollscreen Company in the maintenance department. He retired in 1974 after 20 years of service.

He gardened and spent many years as an amateur magician, entertaining at Parent Teacher Association and Farm Bureau meetings.

He attended the New Sharon and Lacey United Methodist churches and also the Union Mills Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Lyle Maudlin of Fairfield, Lester Maudlin of Norwalk and Larry Maudlin of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; four stepgrand-children; seven great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson.
