J.H. Mateer services at Sigourney Thurs.
SIGOURNEY – John H. Mateer, age 61, Keokuk county surveyor, died Monday, March 27, at Keokuk county hospital following a heart attack March 16. He was the son of the late Alphus and Iowa Hanna Mateer of Oskaloosa, where Alphus Mateer served Mahaska county as sheriff for several years.

Services will be Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at the Christian church in Sigourney, with burial at Pennington cemetery. Rev. Walter Sieck will officiate, with the Reynolds funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are: the wife, Jessie Allgood Mateer; a son, Jack Mateer of Sigourney; three grandsons, Michael, Ricky and Randy Mateer; and two sisters, Mrs. A.L. (Grace) McConnelee of Atlantic and Mrs. Amy Blanche Martin of Topeka, Kan.
