Cedar Pioneer Dies

Mrs. Mary J. FOX, 85, died at her home west of Cedar, [Mahaska Co., IA] at 1:45 p.m. Monday, April 25, 1949, following a long period of illness. She had been a life-long resident of Mahaska county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David ARNOLD. Her husband, John W. FOX, preceded her in death 31 years ago. Funeral services Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Cedar Methodist church with Rev. Lois A. Payne in charge. Burial in the Highland cemetery at Eddyville. Mrs. Fox’s body will be taken from the Fremont funeral chapel to the Fox residence Wednesday morning. Survivors include two sons, Orvil [sic]of Cedar and Rosco [sic] of Oskaloosa route 2; one grandson, Leo FOX of Oskaloosa route 2 and one brother, Eli ARNOLD of Reinbeck.
