A great number of friends and relatives paid their last respects to Guy FOX at the funeral services held Tuesday afternoon at the Cedar Methodist church. Rev. Lois E. Payne, pastor, was in charge of the service. Mrs. Dwight Picken sang, accompanied by Mrs. Howard McKee. Pallbearers were C. E. Williams, C.A. Randall, Lacey Cockefair, Joe Ward, P.C. McEwen, Brandt VanMaanen, Wayne McEwen, and Warren Wymore. The Masonic services were in charge of Tolerance Lodge No. 236, A.F. & A.M. of Fremont, with burial at Highland cemetery at Eddyville, [Mahaska Co., IA]

Mr. Fox passed away at the Mahaska hospital in Oskaloosa, [Mahaska Co., IA] at 9:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, after only a week’s illness. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage on the previous Thursday, and was in a critical condition until his passing.

Guy Forrest, only child of Edward [sic] and Essie FOX, was born in Cedar, IA, 23 April 1896 and departed this life 29 Oct 1948 at the age of 52 years, 6 months and 6 days.

January 22, 1919 he was united in marriage to Zella KARSTETTER of Cedar, and to this union, a daughter, Veva, was born.

At the age of 19 years, he united with the Cedar Methodist church and has taken an active interest in the church and its progress through the years. He was a member of the Masonic Toleration Lodge No. 236 of Fremont and of the Eagle Aerie No. 276 of Oskaloosa.

Mr. Fox was active in all community and school affairs, and was interested in any project which worked toward the up-building and betterment of the community. His friendly personality made for him, wherever he went, a host of friends and acquaintances.

His mother preceded him in death in 1946. Mr. Fox leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Zella, his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth ALBERTSON of Fremont, [Mahaska Co., IA] and his father, Ed FOX of Cedar and a host of other relatives and friends.

Card of Thanks -- Our sincere thanks to all the friends and relatives who helped in any way during the illness and at the time of the death of our loved one. The lovely flowers, the gifts of food, the kind assistance and the many words of comfort helped us to bear the burden of sorrow.
