Essie May FOX, daughter of Isaac and Mary GARRETT was born in Henderson County, IL Jan. 23, 1873 and passed away Sept. 26, 1946 at the age of 73 years and 8 months and three days. She came to Iowa with her parents, at the age of six weeks, and has lived in Mahaska county her entire life. A member of Cedar M.E. church since childhood, she was active in church work until sickness prevented her from doing so. She loved her home and enjoyed showing friends the things she had collected and preserved all these years. She will be greatly missed in the home and community. She leaves to mourn, her husband, Edwin FOX, and son Guy, his wife and daughter Veva, all of Cedar. Also one sister, Mrs. Cora LLOYD of Oskaloosa and a great niece, Louise OSTERFOSS and two children Mary Elane [sic] and Clyde Deverne of Farson, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Cedar Methodist church, in charge of Rev. Nelson MUREDOCK. Music was furnished by Mrs. Howard McKEE. Pallbearers were C.A. McBURNEY, Frank MOORE, I.R KNOTT, John F. MOORE, C.E. WILLIAMS, and George KARSTETTER. Burial was in Highland cemetery at Eddyville.

Card of Thanks - We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the many, many friends and neighbors who were so thoughtful toward us during our recent bereavement. The many beautiful flowers, the food . . . in, the cards received. . other kindnesses, were . . . appreciated.
