Hi Linda,
I would tend to be a bit leary of the information that this man has posted on WorldConnect until it can be proven that his information is correct. First of all, he has Wilford and his wife marrying about 1901 and their children born in the 1890's.
Also, I found Isaac Stiff, father of Wilford in the 1870 Madison County, Iowa Federal Census and it lists Elizabeth as Isaac's wife, Wilford as about 3 years of age, Mary, about 2 years of age and Edward, 5 months of age, also listing all of the children as born in Iowa. I can't find a marriage record for Isaac and Elizabeth nor their son Wilford.
Since the census lists Wilford and Edward as two separate children, I would tend to think that Wilford is not Wilford Edward, but I couldn't find a middle or first name for Wilford, and only have what you sent as William to work with, but still found nothing on him.
I don't know what else to tell you Linda. I have checked through the census records, marriage and cemetery records for Madison County, Iowa and have found nothing other than what I have already listed.
Have you thought of subscribing to the Stiff Mailing List ? If not, that might be an option for you. That way you could communicate with others who are searching for people with the Stiff surname and possibly that way find some information on your family.
