Shearer and Sears Marriage

Does anyone know if a Martha Ann(Spence)Shearer married a Sears around 1870-1885 in Madison or surrounding counties? The best I can tell is that Martha was married to Francis Marion Shearer of Mercer County, Illinois. Francis was supposedly related to Madison County Shearers. Francis died of measles at Fort Donelson prior to 1870. Martha drops out of site after the 1870 census in Mercer Conty, Ill and resurfaces as Maggie Sears around 1885 in Clinton, Iowa. We have no idea who the Sears was and have only seen the initials W J as a possible lead to go on.
