Death of Walter Ogburn

Walter Ogburn who has lived in Madison county, all of his life, died at his home on East Green street, Tuesday, October 22, at the age of 63 years. Mr. Ogburn had been in poor health during the past eighteen months and had been critically ill the past several weeks.

The Rev. A. P. Keast will conduct the funeral services at the Methodist church this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, and burial will be in the Rock City cemetery.

Mr. Ogburn was a son of Mr. William and Mrs. (Annis Ray ) Ogburn and his parents were pioneer settlers in the Peru neighborhood. His brother, Cal Ogburn, of Los Angeles, California, has been writing a series of articles of their pioneer life for the Madisonian.

Mr. Ogburn is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Arminda King and their two children Oscar Ogburn of Monroe township and Mrs. Rose Lyons of Des Moines. He also leaves two grandchildren, one brother, Cal of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. Luella Farber, of Decatur, Nebraska, and two half brothers.

Walter A. Ogburn

Walter A. Ogburn was born in Madison county, Iowa, near Peru December 11, 1865 and spent his entire life in the county.

He was married March 14, 1888 to Miss Arminda King to which union were born three children, one son and two daughters; William Oscar of Lorimor; Mrs. Rose Ann Lyons of Des Moines, and Elsie Eveline, who died in infancy. Besides these of the immediate family are two grandchildren who survive.

Mr. Ogburn died Tuesday afternoon, October 22, 1929 at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A. P. Keast. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
