Winterset Resident Passed Suddenly at Age of 61 Years
Mrs. Harve Mapes, life-long resident of Madison county died at her home in Winterset early Wednesday morning, Oct. 29th. Mrs. Mapes would have been 61 years of age, the day following her death. It was not known that she was in poor health, and she became critically ill at midnight Tuesday night, and died four hours later.
Her funeral arrangements have not been made, because one son, Leslie, is stationed with the army at Ft. Sill, Okla.
Mrs. Mapes is survived by her husband and their five children: George and Harold Mapes, Mrs. Bill Bristow of Winterset, Mrs. Russell Gamble of Carlisle and Leslie Mapes of Ft. Sill.

Died Suddenly At Home Wednesday Morning. Brief Illness.
Mrs. Harve Mapes, 61, died suddenly early Wednesday morning at her home on North Fifth street in Winterset. Her death came as a shock to her friends and relatives, although she had been in ill health for several years.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, George and Harold of Winterset and Leslie, who is stationed with the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and two daughters, Mrs. Bill Bristow of Winterset and Mrs. Russell Gamble of Carlisle.
Funeral arrangements had not been arranged when the news went to press Wednesday.
Mrs. Mapes, who was born October 30, 1880, near Webster, Iowa, would have celebrated her sixty-first birthday anniversary today, Thursday, had she lived. She has been a resident of Winterset for the past fifteen years.
