FRED E. DANFORTH Died Last Friday

Winterset Stock Buyer for Many Years was 64

Fred E. Danforth, widely known Winterset resident, died here last Friday night after a lingering illness. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Danforth was the son of Challen and Lida Sturman Danforth, who were pioneer residents in this community. He was born in Winerset Jan. 23, 1883, and spent his entire life here, with the exception of seven years, 1933 to 1940 in Des Moines.

He was married Oct. 15, 1908, to Edna Lowe Rowe of this community. Through most of his active years he was engaged in the livestock buying business here. Both he and his wife were widely known in Democratic political circles in the state. During their residence in Des Moines, Mrs. Danforth was associated with the state board of control.

The past few years they had been residing on their farm in Lincoln township, but since Jan. 1st they had been with the Alf Danforths in their apartment.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Danforth leaves a daughter, Mrs. Robert J. Reiley of Red Oak; a son, Frederick Danforth of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Foster of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Ray Hake of Worland, Wyo.; a brother, Alfred D. Danforth of Winterset; and three grandchildren, Frederick and Jill Danforth, and Jimmie Reiley.

Funeral services were held Monday from Anderson's Home for Funerals, in charge of the Rev Howard Strong, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
