Death of Mrs. Roselba George

Mrs. Roselba George, aged Winterset resident died at her home in Winterset, Friday, May 5th, after an extended illness. Mrs. George was 86 years of age on February 13, 1933. She had been in poor health for several years and had been bedfast, the past few months.

Mrs. George was the former Roselba Holmes. She was a daughter of John S. and Elizabeth Holmes and although she was born in Indiana, she came here with her parents in 1855. They located in Scott township and in that township she was raised. She has spent almost her entire life in Scott township and in Winterset.

A number of years ago, she was married to Harry Tolbert and they were the parents of one son, who died when he was five years of age. Later, she was married to J. S. George and he died seventeen years ago. They had no children. The deceased leaves however two brothers, John Holmes of Winterset and E. G. Holmes of Elida, New Mexico. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Polly Pearson of Winterset.

The Rev. Mr. Miller of Des Moines conducted her funeral services at the Adventist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Five of the pallbearers were nephews of the deceased; Fred and M. B. Holmes, Lester Holmes and Frank Leddle, Ellsworth Pearson and Ora Haines.
