DR. DAVENPORT DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

Angina Pectoris Is Fatal To 69-Year-Old Winterset Physician

Dr. F. D. Davenport, well known Winterset physician, died at his home on West Court avenue, early Monday morning, May 22nd, after a short illness with angina pectoris. Dr. Davenport has been in poor health the past few weeks and his condition was critical last week. He was 69 years of age.

The deceased was a son of John Spooner Davenport and Sarah Douglas Davenport and born in Providence, Rhode Island, March 9, 1864. He took his medical training at the Eccalectic medical college in Cincinnati and received his degree in 1887. That same year he moved to Anita where he practiced his profession. He was married to Miss Alice Carpenter of Waukee, and they were the parents of two children, a son Frank, who survives his father and a daughter, who died in 1890; Mrs. Davenport died January 9, 1895.

In June 1897, Dr. Davenport married Miss Marie Prevost, and they located in Winterset, where he has since engaged in the practice of medicine. Mrs. Davenport died July 27, 1927.

The Rev. Arthur Fitzpatrick conducted his funeral services at 10 o'clock, Wednesday morning May 24th at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Eleven member of the Madison county medical society attended the services.

The members of the medical group who served as pallbearers were; Dr. Glen Anderson, Dr. John F. Veltman, Dr. F. O. Richards, Dr. C. B. Hickenlooper, Dr. Arnold Nelson of Winterset and Dr. L. K. Sayre of St. Charles. Honorary pallbearers were; Dr. Leslie Lamb and Dr. C. A. Ayers of Lorimor, Dr. W. H. Thompson, Dr. R. R. Davission and Dr. C. M. Wallace.

Dr. Davenport leaves no immediate relatives except his son Frank.
