DEATH OF MRS. D. G. ROWE

Mrs. D. G. Rowe, resident of this county for over half a century died at her home in Grand River township Tuesday morning, September 19th after an illness of several months. Mrs. Rowe was 83 years of age in August. She has been in poor health for about five months but until two or three years ago had lived alone on the farm which had been her home for fifty-seven years. Her husband preceded her in death twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Rowe, formerly Miss Sarah Riley, was born in Indiana in 1840. Later she moved to Davis county where she was married to D. G. Rowe. In 1875 they moved to this county and moved to the farm where they have since lived, in 1877.

She is survived by two son, Charles Rowe of Winterset and Smith Rowe who has lived on the home place for the past two or three years. Another son, Hugh Rowe, died in Chicago in 1921.

Mrs. Rowe was a charter member of the Women's Relief Corps of Macksburg and a member of the Macksburg Methodist Episcopal church. Funeral services were held at the Macksburg church this morning at 10:30 o'clock and were to be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Myrtle Wolf, with burial in the Moon cemetery.

Sarah M. Rowe

Sarah M. Riley was born in Indiana on August 24, 1840 and passed away at her home September 19, 1933 aged 93 years and 26 days. When only a young girl she came by covered wagon to Davis county with her parents. She was married to David G. Rowe in 1867, and to this union was born one daughter and three sons. In 1875, they moved to this county and in 1877 the Rowe family moved to the farm where for 56 years she has made her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Minnie and son Hugh. She leaves to mourn her loss, her two sons, Smith of Macksburg and Charles of Winterset, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth McCracken of St. Joseph, and Mrs. Caroline Rhoades of Emerson and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rowe was converted in the Camelite faith and a member of J. D. Craven Woman's Relief Corps of Macksburg.
