THOMAS KEPHART DIES

Thomas Kephart, elderly resident of Peru, died Tuesday at the state hospital in Iowa City. The body was brought Wednesday to the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset. Funeral plans had not been announced Wednesday noon.

THOS. J. KEPHART RITES HELD FRIDAY

Long Time Resident Died Oct. 27, at Iowa City Hospital

Funeral services for Thomas J. Kephart of Peru. who died Oct. 27, at the state hospital in Iowa City, were held from the Peru Methodist church last Friday, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. James Walls. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.

Mr. Kephart had lived most of his life in this county, although he was born in Indiana on May 2, 1875. He was 67 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Sarah Smith Kephart.

He was married to Marvie Ellen Smith. They were the parents of 13 children, one of whom, Lloyd Monroe, preceded the father in death.

He is survived by his wife, seven sons and five daughters: T. J. Kephart of Milford, A. F. Kephart of Peru, F. E. Kephart of Winterset, Mrs. R. C. Diggs of Newton, Mrs. Roy McKinney of Newton, Mrs. Charles Crawford of Waukee, Mrs. Elmer Snell of Peru, Mrs. Frank Lemon of Greenfield, Alvin, Mary and Edna Kephart at home, and James Kephart in the U. S. army. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DEATH CLAIMS T. J. KEPHART

Long Time Resident of Madison County. Burial At Peru

Thomas J. Kephart, long time resident of Madison county, died Tuesday at the University hospital in Iowa City following a major surgery. He was 67 years of age.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Peru Friday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. James Walls, pastor, in charge. A mixed quartet composed of Percy Thompson, Mrs. Claude Shearer, Marilyn Shearer and Rev. Walls accompanied by Mrs. Rouse, sang two selections.

Thomas Jefferson Kephart was born in Indiana, May 2, 1875, the son of Thomas Jefferson Kephart and Sarah Smith. He was united in marriage to Marvie Ellen Smith and they were the parents of 13 children, one son Lloyd Monroe preceded him in death.

Besides his wife he is survived by five sons, T. J. of Milford, A. F. of Peru, F. E. of Winterset, Alvin Martin of Peru and James Allen serving in the U. S. Army, seven daughters, Mrs. R. C. Diggs, Mrs. Roy McKinney of Newton, Mrs. Frank Lemon of Greenfield, Mary Leona and Edna Vera at home, Mrs. Charles Crawford of Waukee, and Mrs. Elmer Snell of Peru.
