Native of Pitzer Had Left This County About 25 Years Ago
Grover G. DeVault, a former resident of the Pitzer neighborhood died at his home in Beaverton, Wash. (sic), last Saturday night. He was about 56 years of age.
Mr. DeVault was born at Pitzer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. DeVault, and was reared in that community. He served overseas with the American Expeditionary force in World War I, and was severely wounded in action.
After attending college at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he attained an advanced degree, he farmed for several years in this county. Moving from here to the east coast, then later went to the west coast, and had lived in Oregon for 10 years.
His only surviving relative is his sister, Mrs. Ralph Crouse of Winterset.
The body will be returned to Winterset for funeral services and burial, but no definite date has been set as yet.

World War Veteran Succumbs At Oregon Home At 56 Years of Age.
Military rites were conducted Monday afternoon at the Anderson funeral home for Grover Glen DeVault, World War veteran, who died at his home in Beaverton, Oregon, Wednesday, October 25, following an extended period of ill health. He was 56 years of age.
Grover Glen DeVault was born near Pitzer March 27, 1886, the son of Joseph Jerome and Matilda DeVault. He enlisted in the Army May 31, 1918. His last assignment was corporal in Company F, 26th Engineers. While in the service he was severely wounded from which he never fully recovered.
He was honorably discharged at Camp Dodge, April 2, 1919.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ralph Crouse and a host of other relatives.
