CLAIR O. BURD Rites

Clair O. Burd of Winterset died Sunday, August 12, 1979, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. David Livingston officiating.

Born on July 16, 1896 in Winterset, he was the son of Henry H. and Margaret A. Armbrest Burd. He was married on December 16, 1929 in Greenfield to Natalie A. Honnold, who survives him. A lifelong resident here, he was the cemetery sexton until his retirement in 1963.

Also surviving are two daughters, Melba L. Brown of Des Moines and Carmen V. Galleguillos of Fremont, California; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cap E. and Lee; and three sisters, Daisy Korous, Bess Miles and Leann Burd.
