Ruby Maxine Bruett, 86, of Winterset died June 8, 2006, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Don Frank officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Ruby Bruett was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Greenfield to Robert E. and Beulah Faye (Jameson) Newbury. On Jan. 1, 1938, she married Harold “Joe” Wayne Bruett in Winterset. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a resident of Winterset since 1967. Ruby was retired from Madison County Memorial Hospital where she had been a nurse’s aide. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Sherryl VanKooten; a brother, Donald Newbury; and a sister, Ruth Cisneros.

She is survived by one son, Darrell Bruett of Patterson; two daughters, Vicki Mease of Winterset and Judy Allen of Janesville, Wis.; a brother, Max Newbury of Winterset; two sisters, Berneice Okey of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Elaine Lian of Sylmar, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
