OLIVE IRENE CAREY, Winterset

Olive Irene Carey, 101, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1992, at Winterset Care Center South, where she was a resident for four years. Funeral services were held January 15 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating.

The daughter of John and Emma Irvin Tucker, she was born August 28, 1890 at What Cheer. She taught in the Madison County rural school system prior to her marriage on Christmas Day, 1912 to Dean L. Carey. They made their home in Winterset where Dean was engaged in the retail grocery business. She was a long-time member of the Winterset United Methodist Church, was a member of the Women's Club there and taught Sunday school for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, her parents, twin brothers who died in infancy, three other brothers, a sister and a great-grandson.

Surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
