Samuel Charles Yetter, 55, of Earlham died of Pancreatic cancer Jan. 25, 2006.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Crossroad Evangelical Free Church in Earlham with Pastor Mike Evans officiating. Burial was at Penn Cemetery in rural Earlham.

Sam Yetter was born July 5, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Herbert and Nada Gwen Yetter and grew up in the farming community of Big Springs, Neb. Following high school, he attended Southwestern Assembly of God College in Waxahachie, Texas. In 1977, he was united in marriage to Lois Ralston. Besides farming, Sam worked for Breeding’s True Hardware in Winterset for the past five years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1972-76 and 1985-89.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his stepmother, Winnie; and a sister Lenora.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, of Earlham; one son, Ben Yetter of Dexter; one daughter, Katherine Yetter of Earlham; his father, Herb Yetter of Big Springs, Neb.; a twin brother, Dan Yetter of Thermopolis, Wyo.; and three sisters, Glenyce Janous of Kileen, Texas, Cherie Morris of Belton, Texas, and Rose del Sol of Elizabeth, Colo.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.

Funeral services were held for Samuel C. Yetter on Sunday, January 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Crossroad Evangelical Free Church, outside of Earlham, Iowa.

Pastor Mike Evans of Earlham, Lynne Hockesa was the pianist and Susan Brantley was the soloist singing “Amazing Grace”. Congregational hymn was “There Is A Redeemer”.

Pallbearers were Nick Price, Carter Strand, Rick Breeding, Dan Yetter, Shawn Honnold, Robert Snyder.

Samuel Charles Yetter was born on July 15, 1950, in Dallas, TX, the second son of Herbert and Nada Gwen Yetter. He grew up in the farming community of Big Springs, NE. His grandparents passed on the heritage of a Godly home and his parents took the family to the Assembly of God Church regularly. Sam’s love for Christ grew through trials and joys. His last journey was pancreatic cancer, diagnosed on October 28, 2005.

Following high school Sam attended Southwestern Assembly of God College at Waxahachie, TX. He wanted to be a missionary. Sam served in the US Navy during 2 separate terms, 1972-1976 and 1985-1989. In 1977, he married Lois Ralston. God blessed Sam and Lois with 2 children, Benjamin and Katherine. During the last five years, aside from working at Breedings True Value in Winterset, Sam spent many hours outside in his vegetable and flower gardens and working with the livestock. Sam loved nature and all that God had created. He was happiest reading from the Bible, spending time with family, being a farmer and serving the Lord.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother Nada Gwen, step-mother Winnie and sister Lenora.

He is survived by his wife Losi Yetter of Earlham; son Ben Yetter of Dexter; daughter Katherine Yetter of Earlham; father Herb Yetter of Big Springs, NE< twin brother Dan Yetter and wife Sandi of Thermopolis, WY; sister Glenyce Janous and husband Bill of Killeen, TX; sister Cherie Morris and husband Vance of Belton, TX; sister Rose del Sol and husband Justin of Elizabeth, CO.

Interment was held in the Penn Center Cemetery in rural Earlham. Kuhn Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
