Bea Macumber, 87 of Winterset, died of complications of a stroke on July 14, 1996 at her home. Funeral services were July 16 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset. The Rev. David Bauer officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was born on Dec. 2, 1908 in Winterset to Fred H. and Mary Elizabeth (Cridling) Wilkinson. She married George Allen Macumber on Oct. 3, 1931 in Missouri. She was a retired nurse. She served as the school nurse for the Winterset Community School district from 1947 until 1973. She also owned and operated the former Winterset Hospital from 1940 through 1945. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one sister.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Caroline Dienema of Canton, S. D., and Jane Weber of Laguna Beach, Calif., one sister, Margaret F. Clark of Winterset; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
