GAIL E. FINNEY

Gail E. Finney was born in Webster Township, Madison County, Iowa, on November 17, 1899, the son of H. H. (Hez) and Olive Van Dusen Finney, and passed away on July 22, 1972, at the age of 72.

All of his life was spent in Madison County where he attended country schools and the Winterset High School.

On November 10, 1920, he was united in marriage to Laura M. Marston and lived on a farm one-half mile south of Pitzer until 1959 when he retired in Winterset due to failing health. For the past twenty months, he had been confined to the care of a local nursing home. At age 13 he became a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian and later transferred to the First United Presbyterian Church and later transferred to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. During his active farming years, he was a member of various farm and community organizations, and from an early age, had interest in and concern for nature, wildlife, and agriculture.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Wanda, Mrs. Earl Lohr of Webster Township, a son, Harlow B., two granddaughters, Julie Rae and Joleen Maureen Finney of Jackson Township, and a sister, Mrs. W. J. Eivins of Winterset.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Susie Finney and Mrs. Mamie Donaldson, and a brother, George Finney.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Dr. Walter A. Samp officiating. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Gail E. Finney, a life citizen of Madison County, died at age 72, July 22, 1972, following a long illness. Mr. Finney was born November 17, 1899, a son of H. H. (Hez) and Olive Van Dusen Finney in Webser township. His formal education was in the Madison County country schools and Winterset High School.

Memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Rev. Walter A. Samp officiating. Interment was at the Winterset Cemetery.
