Page 1Death of James Ira Murphy
James Ira Murphy, father of Ora Murphy of Winterset, died at the hospital here January 8th, at the age of 68 years.
Mr. Murphy was born July 28th, 1867, the son of Sian and Polly Ann Murphy. He was married to Lizzie Taylor on February 17, 1895. They were the parents of three children, Mrs. Pearl Dorsey of Anita, Lloyd David Murphy who died in 1912, and Clarence Murphy of Greenfield. The mother died in 1898.
Later, on September 9, 1903, Mr. Murphy was married to Miss Lillie May Cunningham. To this union one child was born, Ora Murphy of Winterset. This second wife died March 22nd of last yaer. Since her death Mr. Murphy has made his home with his son, Ora in Winterset.
He is survived by three brothers; Fred Murphy of Bridgewater, Charlie Murphy of Dexter, and Frank Murphy of Prescott; and a sister, Mrs. Edd Nelson of Greenfield, as well as eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and the two sons and daughter.
Funeral services were conducted at the Webster church last Friday by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Roberts cemetery.

James Ira Murphy, 68, died at the Winterset Hospital January 9, following after an illness of several weeks. He was the son of Sian and Polly Ann Murphy and was born July 28, 1867.
He was married Lizzie Tyler February 17, 1895. Three children were born to them, Mrs. Pearl Dorsey, of Anita; and Clarence Alva of Greenfield. Lloyd David died for 15, 1912, at the age of 15. Mrs. Murphy died December 19, 1898.
Mr. Murphy later married Lillie May Cunningham September 9, 1903. A son was born to them, Ora Joe, of Winterset. The mother died March 22, 1935. Since then Mr. Murphy had lived with his son here.
In addition to his children he is survived by three brothers and a sister, friend of Bridgewater; Charles of Dexter; Frank of Prescott; and Mrs. Ed Nelson, of Greenfield, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Rev. H. L. Olmstead held the services at Webster church at two o’clock Friday afternoon, burial was in the Roberts cemetery.
