Madison A. Nelson

Madison A. Nelson was born near Anderson, Indiana, on November 27, 1846, and passed away at his home in Winterset, Iowa, July 24, 1931, aged 85 years, 7 months and 27 days.

His boyhood was spent at North Henderson, Illinois. He has lived in Winterset for the past twenty-three years.

Those who mourn his loss are his wife and his six children, Mrs. Jessie Simmons, of Des Moines; Mrs. Lottie Beaman of Greenfield; Frank Nelson of Orient; Mrs. Florence Manstead, Mrs. Grace Glide, and Lou Nelson, all of Des Moines; and sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five stepchildren. The oldest son Edward passed away six years ago and his father left the request that he be laid beside Ed in the Roberts cemetery.

Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted the services in the Winterset Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, July 26th and the interment was made in the Roberts cemetery in Adair county.

Death of M. A. Nelson

Madison A. Nelson, who has been a resident of Winterset, for the past 23 years, died at his home in the southwest part of town, Friday morning, July 23d. He was 85 years of age, and had been in poor health for some time.

The deceased was born near Anderson, Indiana, on November 27, 1846, and when a child moved with his parents, to North Henderson, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife and six children; Mrs. Jessie Simmons, Mrs. Florence Manstead, Mrs. Grace Glide and Lou Nelson all of Des Moines, Frank Nelson of Orient and Mrs. Lottie Beaman of Greenfield. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The eldest son Edward died six years ago.

The Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted his funeral services, Sunday afternoon, July 26th, at the Church of Christ, and burial was made at the Roberts cemetery, in the east edge of Adair county.
