W. C. SPERA Died Sunday

William C. Spera, a prominent Madison County farmer during his active life, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 1973, at his home in Tucson, Ariz., where he had lived since his retirement in 1962. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Spera was a son of John and Annetta Drager Spera, and was born Dec. 24, 1897, near Decatur, Ill. In 1914 he moved with his parents to Madison county. During his active years he was associated with his father and brothers in the production and sale of purebred Poland China hogs. The firm name of J. C. Spera and Sons became well known in the midwest swine area. He later moved into general farming until his retirement in 1962.

In 1946 he was married to Nellie Crow Chadwick, who survives him. He also leaves a step-daughter, Rogena Basoreur of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Kenneth Spera of Winterset; a nephew, John Spera of Winterset; and two nieces, Beverly Schultz of Chicago and Sharon Libby of Winterset.

Funeral services were held in Arizona and burial made at South Lawn Memorial cemetery in Tucson.
