18 March 1998Russell Don Weeks, 78, of Winterset died of lung cancer March 12, 1998, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Monday March 16 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Russell Weeks was born Oct. 2, 1919 in Madison County to L. D. and Nancy Loueila (Cain) Weeks. He graduated from Macksburg High School in 1937. He married Marjorie Doris Hulbert Aug. 29, 1942 at Nashua, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was a retired farmer, insurance agent and 4-H leader. He also was a member of the Madison County Extension Council and First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gerald Weeks; and one sister, Lola Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Larry (wife Mona) of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Denny (wife Debbie) and Bob (wife Shelley) both of Winterset; and one daughter, Myrna (husband Mark) Picogna of Birmingham, Ala; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
