MERLE HAYMOND

Merle Lee Haymond, 73, of Winterset of Winterset, died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Dec. 28, 1995, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 1996, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Ed Van Holland officiating. Burial was in the McDonald-Chase Cemetery in Madison County.

He was born Dec. 8, 1922, to Carl and Esther (Huffman) Haymond in Madison County. He married Kathryn Griffith on April 9, 1950 in Madison County. He was a life-time resident of Madison County and a retired farmer. He belonged to the Macksburg United Methodist Church in Macksburg, the Farm Bureau and was a 50-year member of IOOF Lodge #406.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three sons, David and wife, Debra, of Winterset, Dan of Perry and Brian and wife Carla of Winfield; a daughter, Becky Haymond of Waltham, Mass; two brothers, Chester Haymond of Macksburg and Rex Haymond of Winterset; and four grandchildren.
