Cleo Kirkland, 80, of Winterset, died April 2, 1995 of an aneurysm at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services are today, April 5 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Winterset. The Rev. Bobby Dickerson will officiate the services and burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was born in Madison County on July 19, 1914 to Lloyd and Mamie (Hendricks) Brittain. She married William Russell Davis in Sept. 1933 in Madison County. She later married Edwin (Eddie) Kirkland on May 17, 1946 in Des Moines. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Madison County. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset, and a member of the Jolly Dozen Bridge Club and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, one sister; and one grandson.

Surviving relatives include one son, William Davis and wife Shirley of Winterset; four daughters, Phyllis Mitchell and husband Maurice of West Des Moines, Irma Hohneke and husband Maurice of Urbandale, Delores Hansen of West Des Moines and Saundra Funke and husband Larry of Des Moines, 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
