Services for Edwin "Eddie" Kirkland, 70, of Winterset, who died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1986, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held at Collins Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 4, with the Rev. Bob Brite officiating.Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Macksburg on Sept. 20, 1916, he was the son of Gail and Pearl Cain Kirkland. He operated Kirkland Grocery and later an automobile agency in Winterset.

On May 17, 1946, he was married to Cleo Brittain Davis in Des Moines. He was an Army World War II veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion in Winterset.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William Davis of Winterset; daughters, Phyllis Mitchell of Winterset, Irma Hohneke of Des Moines, Delores Hansen of Waterloo and Saundra Funke of Greenfield; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a grandson.
