Floyd Linn Heichel, 83, of Dexter died of a heart ailment Aug. 27, 1998, at Winterset Care Center North.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 31, at the United Presbyterian Church of Pitzer with the Rev. Shirley Lockard officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Floyd Heichel was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Madison County to Herbert Sylvester and Blanche (Linn) Heichel. He married Letha Maeder June 7, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a retired farmer, having lived on the same farm in Madison County for 57 years. Floyd was a member of Farm Bureau, Madison County Genealogy Club, Friends of the Winterset Public Library, Madison County Historical Society and the United Presbyterian Church at Pitzer. He also had been a director of County School Jackson No. 4. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Brian Heichel (wife Terry) of Anoka, Minn.; two daughters, Lila Creswell (husband Kenneth) of Dexter and Gayle Christianson of Charles City; one brother, Harold Heichel of Winterset; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
