MARVIN REX HAYMOND

Marvin Rex Haymond, 59, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Dec. 20, 2001 of complications following a stem cell transplant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Community Lutheran Church in Las Vegas. Memorial graveside services will be held at Winterset Cemetery at a later date.

Marvin Haymond was born Sept. 12, 1942 to Rex and Rosalie (Givan) Haymond. He was a 1961 graduate of Winterset High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and master's degree in social work from the University of Minnesota. On Aug. 2, 1979, he married Elaine Boyer in Minneapolis, Minn. Marvin's professional career included working with emotionally disturbed children at St. Joseph's Home for Children in Minneapolis and medical social work at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, also in Minneapolis. He also worked at Sunrise Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital in Las Vegas. Additionally, he helped develop programming for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Las Vegas; a daughter, Amanda Erin Haymond of Las Vegas; his father, Rex Haymond of Winterset; a sister, Marcia Wingler of Phoenix, Ariz. and a brother, Gary Haymond, of Iowa City.
